High-Tc SQUIDs on Silicon Substrates
We have developed high-?;. SQUIDs based on Josephson step-edge junctions on silicon substrates. The SQUIDs show a transfer function up to 150 pVIQ,, and a white noise of lV5 @JHz" at 50 K. During the last three years extensive investigations of the growth of YBCO, buffer and passivation layers as well as step-preparation and patterning processes were necessary to find a standard preparation pro...
متن کاملSQUIDs and Inverse Problem Techniques in Nondestructive Evaluation of Metals
Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices coupled to gradiometers were used to detect aws in metals. We detected aws in aluminum samples carrying current, measuring elds at lift-o distances up to one order of magnitude larger than the size of the aw. Con gured as a susceptometer we detected surface-braking aws in steel samples, measuring the distortion on the applied magnetic eld. We also us...
متن کاملHigh Tc SQUIDs for Unshielded Measuring in Disturbed Environments
Directly coupled dc SQUID gradiometers on the basis of YBqCu,O, for unshielded NDE measurements are investigated. The influence of different SQUID layout parameters on the field sensitivity is shown. A sensitivity of 500 ffl(crn.JHz) is achieved with a baseline of 3.6 mrn. A slit in an aluminium plate was detected in an demonstration of NDE in 1 cm depth with eddy current method.
متن کاملOn Transmission Line Resonances in High TC dc SQUIDs
In this paper, we study transmission line resonances in high TC dc SQUIDs. These resonances are exhibited in the characteristics of SQUIDs which are fabricated on substrates with high dielectric constant, such as strontium titanate. The power balance equation is analytically derived both for symmetric and asymmetric SQUIDs. Using this, we investigate SQUID current voltage I(V ), voltage flux V ...
متن کاملControlled preparation of all high-Tc SNS-type edge junctions and DC SQUIDs
High-T c SNS-type Josephson junctions and DC SQUIDs were successfully fabricated using hetero-epitaxially grown multilayers of YBa2Cu3Ox and PrBa2Cu3Ox. These layers are c-axis oriented and hence edges of the muir[layers give rise to a current flow in the ab-plane between the electrodes of a Josephson junction. The necessary structuring was done by Ar ion beam etching. The individual junctions ...
